I just realized that Garcia often played a song called "In an English Country Garden" while noodling around between songs. Ive heard it several times, and im listening to 6 20 80 now 2nd set "tuning" opener about 2 minutes in after Bob tunes up Lost Sailor for a min... You can sample the song at amazon:

Can anyone think of other times he did this?

that version on Amazon actually does sound like Jerry & the crew playing it - especially with Keith (is God-chaux) on keys. Yep, have heard it and recognized it (being a Brit) before and I seem to think recently as well. Have been committing a lot of stuff to CD recently - never know how long this wonderful gift of a site will be with us so better make hay while the suns shines (in an English Country Garden and all that - boom, boom) .......... maybe appears in the recent Warlocks or Road Trips releases.
Either way, nice spot.

That's great, I love the little tune-ups before songs. Alfred Hitchcock theme on DP33 before st. stephen and the merry go round broke down are some of my faves

Jazz musicians liked to throw this little theme into their solos. Louis Armstrong includes it on "Ambassador Satch". Monty Alexander often uses it live, along with things like the William Tell Overture. (Don't think the Grateful Dead used this although I'd be glad if someone proved me wrong.)

Interesting for sure that jazz greats would play it... Most of us would recognize that as a children's tune - Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat...
